On 6 August 2024, Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Claudia Sanhueza Riveros, Under-Secretary for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the Republic of Chile, during her visit to Chile to co-chair the 7th Meeting of Thailand - Chile Political Consultations hosted by Chile, and to lead a Thai business delegation to Latin America (Latin Link project) 2024.

On this occasion, both sides discussed ways to further enhance the dynamism of Thai-Chilean economic relations. At the bilateral level, they agreed to expedite the pending issues under Thailand-Chile Free Trade Agreement (TCFTA), which is the first comprehensive FTA between Thailand and Latin American countries, and to explore the options for the negotiation of a bilateral investment treaty.

On the multilateral front, both sides discussed Thailand's application to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Chile's to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as well as cooperation in the ASEAN-Pacific Alliance (PA) arena.
