New Elevated Lighting Brightens 3rd Ave as part of Seattle’s Downtown Activation Plan

Over the weekend, new festive lighting was strung above 3rd Ave in Downtown Seattle, between Stewart and Virginia streets.

This effort builds on the 30+ murals recently painted in Belltown and other neighborhoods in and around Downtown Seattle, and is part of Mayor Harrell's Downtown Activation Plan. This includes a focus on making 3rd Ave a welcoming front door to our city that connects neighborhoods and serves residents, workers, tourists, and businesses. The improvements on 3rd Ave are a close partnership between the City of Seattle, King County Metro, Sound Transit, nearby building owners and tenants, Downtown Seattle Association, Urban Land Institute, and other community partners and stakeholders.

We expect this new lighting could spark more interest from building owners and tenants who may wish to pursue similar lighting and enhancements along 3rd Ave. Keep an eye out as more elements of the Downtown Activation Plan are added in the weeks and months ahead.
