City Releases New Renderings for Proposed Youth Sports Complexes

LITTLE ROCK - Mayor Frank Scott, Jr., and other city officials today showed updated renderings of proposed indoor and outdoor youth sports complexes that would be funded by the Results For The Rock sales tax plan. Mayor Scott was joined by Ward 4 City Director Capi Peck, Little Rock Parks Director Leland Couch, and Gina Gemberling, president of the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau at a City Hall news conference.

The proposed sales tax would fund the new complexes as well as upgrades to existing parks, including transforming War Memorial Park as a "central park" for the state's capital city, and making Hindman Park a regional outdoor recreation hub. The sales tax is expected to generate more than $65 million a year to support capital projects and ongoing needs related to what Mayor Scott calls the "four Ps," public safety, public works and infrastructure, parks and recreation, and the Port and economic development. Little Rock voters will decide on the tax this fall.

During the press conference, Mayor Scott emphasized the importance of creating new quality-of-life-and-place amenities for our residents and visitors. The sports complexes proposal would "level up not only our sports development, but also our tourist attractions," Mayor Scott said.
