New ‘GG Precinct’ Key Art Spotlights Unexpected Cast From “Muyao 4 Super Playing”

Crime comedy series GG Precinctunveils new key art, revealing an unexpected cast: members of the popular YouTube series "Muyao 4 Super Playing" - Tai Chih-yuan, Lin Po-sheng, Kunda Hsieh, Winni, Wu Yang-lin, and Maria Abe - and award-winning singer-songwriter Huang Hsuan (YELLOW). Set against a backdrop of crime news clippings, the ominous and sinister key art bears a striking contrast to the previously released key art, which featured the quirky cops ofGG Precinct.

Taking center stage is Shui-yuan (Tai Chih-yuan), a former Chinese tutor turned menacing serial killer. Confined to a straitjacket and muzzle and inspired by Hannibal Lecter, Shui-yuan sets up crime scenes as riddles based on Chinese idioms before he is arrested.

Making her debut in a Taiwanese series, Japanese singer Maria Abejoins the cast as underground idol Mogu Yumi. Maria describes Mogu Yumi's character as hugely different from herself, sharing, "She is very adorable and speaks with a high-pitched voice, so I tried to imagine myself as a beloved Japanese idol when portraying this character. Mogu Yumi also speaks the Taiwanese dialect in certain scenes. As someone who doesn't speak the language, I took lessons to help prepare myself for the role and learned so much along the way." Variety show host Lin Po-sheng, who plays Mogu Yumi's talent manager, recalls, "Being a part of a series like GG Precinctis a rare and refreshing experience for me. The directors have a way of making the cast feel comfortable and encouraged throughout the course of filming, and it was a great experience working together for the first time."

Kunda Hsiehbreaks away from his popstar image to star as a disheveled, greasy-haired delivery man, Hsieh Cheng-ta, an otaku and avid fan of Mogu Yumi. "The most memorable scene for me was to perform the fan dance and chants, and I even lost my voice after filming that scene!" he shares. In preparation for the role, Hsieh spent time studying videos of passionate Japanese idol superfans.

Muyao 4 Super Player host, Winnie, makes her series debut in GG Precinct, portraying the fiery, no-nonsense delivery person Huang Hsiao-yin. Reflecting on her most memorable scene, Winnie recalls having to ride a motorcycle: "I had to speed up, then slow down and turn when seeing the camera to avoid crashing into everyone behind the camera. I ended up crashing into a utility pole while slowing down and turning, which startled everyone on set!" Wu Yang-linplays a gifted high school student, Liu Mu-ting, with a penchant for internet slang. To prepare for the role, Wu did extensive research, interviewed younger friends, and even incorporated trendy internet lingo into her daily conversations for practice.

GG Precinctis a unique genre-blending crime comedy series that builds on the acclaim of box office hit Marry My Dead Body, which is also Taiwan's official selection for the 2024 Academy Awards. In GG Precinct,rookie police captain Lin Tzu-ching (Gingle Wang) and goofy detective Wu Ming-han (Hsu Kuang-han) face a trail of murders staged as chilling Chinese-idiom word games and race to solve the serial killer's deadly puzzles.
