(Motorists are encouraged to use local detour in place)

Santa Clara County- State Route 9 (SR-9) from Sanborn Rd. to Redwood Gulch Rd. near Saratoga is closed in both directions due to the highway being blocked by debris flow from an unstable hillside.

Over the weekend, inclement weather caused the hillside to produce debris that washed onto the highway.
The closure will remain in place from Monday, December 16 to Wednesday, December 18.

To ensure the safety of the public and workers, Caltrans will continue to monitor the hillside and will safely remove the debris from the road.

Caltrans will determine if it is safe to reopen the highway on Wednesday, December 18.
