Nairobi City County and NACCSC Collaborate for Anti-Corruption Social Audit on Dandora Stadium Project

Nairobi, 31st January 2024

As part of measures put in place to stamp out corruption on County projects Nairobi City County in partnership with National Anti-Corruption Campaign Steering Committee (NACCSC) through the County Anti-Corruption Civilian Oversight Committee (CACCOC), conducted a social audit and Reporting Forum for Dandora Stadium.
CACCOC plays an important role in the mobilization of the public to actively participate in the management of county affairs and address local corruption issues through the implementation of awareness campaigns at the grass root level.

Speaking during the public participation County Chief Officer for Youth, Talent and sports Oscar Igaida said, "Our mandate as sports department is to promote sports and develop talent through provision of sports facilities and equipment within the community. This would ensure that the community members disassociate themselves with vices such as drugs, alcohol abuse, early pregnancies, robbery and other related activities."
It is expected that once the project is complete, youths from within Nairobi will have a training facility for different activities. This project is meant to provide a platform for youth empowerment and also fill a gap which was necessitated due to lack of enough sports facilities in Embakasi North Sub County. He said

Mr. Igaida further stated, "This stadium will serve to nurture youths within Nairobi County as envisioned by Governor Sakaja in his manifesto. This not only instills a sense of pride among the younger members of our community but also positions us as a breeding ground for sporting excellence"
NACCSC was represented by regional coordinator Ms. Sophie Ligondo who said that she was impressed that the department of youth, talent and sports has taken the lead within the county in showing that Governor Sakaja's administration is transparent and open to Scrutiny and willing to partner with the agency in rooting out corruption.

H.E Governor Sakaja is expected to officially open the Stadium to the public in March 2024.

The Chief Officer was accompanied by Director for Sports Linet Boyani, QS Munala and County staff from different sectors.
