Polish-US talks on nuclear power plants

• The NRC is a government agency created in 1974 by the US Congress to ensure the safe use of radioactive materials and ionising radiation.
• The agency handles the licensing and oversight of entities and facilities that use radioactive materials and ionising radiation, including nuclear power plants and X-ray equipment.
• Deputy Ministers Miłosz Motyka and Maciej Bando met with Christopher Hanson - President of the NCR, to agree on the development of strategic relations with the USA in the context of the construction of Polish nuclear power plants in line with the Polish Nuclear Power Programme.

On 2 November 2022, the Polish government adopted a resolution recognising the need to build the first nuclear power plant based on the US AP1000 reactor technology. Construction of the first such unit will begin as early as 2026. Ultimately, three AP1000 reactors will be built in Lubiatowo-Kopalin, a coastal municipality in Pomerania.
