City of Roanoke Leaf Collection Ends December 19

Bagged Leaf Collection in the City of Roanoke ends Thursday, December 19. Residents should place leaves in biodegradable paper bags; the City will not collect plastic bags or loose leaves.

The collected bags will be transported to a property along Old Mountain Road, where, under an agreement with Rockydale Quarries, the leaves will break down and eventually create new topsoil.

After December 19, any remaining leaves, even if in biodegradable paper bags, will be sent to the landfill.
