Statement from Hertfordshire Police: Witness appeal following murder in Kings Langley

Statement from Hertfordshire Constabulary:

Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have launched a murder investigation following an incident in Kings Langley.

Police were called to reports of a shooting in Railway Terrace at 12.33am today (Tuesday 17 September). On arrival a man aged in his 30s was found with serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

At just after 12.45am, reports were received of a white Volkswagen Golf on fire in Furtherfield, Abbots Langley. Officers believe the incidents are linked.

A search of both areas was conducted, and police remain at the scenes. No arrests have been made at this time and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: "This is a tragic loss of life, and our thoughts are very much with the victim's family at this time.

"As part of our investigation we are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the Railway Terrace and surrounding areas at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to please contact police as soon as possible.

"Additionally, if you were travelling in the area of Kings Langley and/or Abbots Langley at around 12.30am and witnessed anything suspicious, please do get in touch.

"No matter how insignificant the information may seem, it could help us with our enquiries."

Three Rivers Chief Inspector Andrew Palfreyman said: "We believe this was an isolated incident and there is not believed to be a wider threat to the public.

"I appreciate this will have concerned local members of the community and you can expect to see an increased police presence in the area and additional patrols.

"Should anyone have any concerns, please don't hesitate to speak to our officers."
