The airport and its signatory airlines sign-off on a 3rd Amendment Agreement

ST. LOUIS, MO (August 9, 2024): Today, St. Louis Lambert International Airport's (STL) Consolidated Terminal Program (CTP) reached an important milestone. A required majority of STL' signatory airline partners agreed to a 3rd Amendment to their lease, which grants authority for $650 million on enabling projects and other elements. The 3rd Amendment is an extension of STL's current Use and Lease Agreement. This extension will run through June 30, 2027.

The $650 million dollars will cover the costs of STL's proposed consolidated terminal full design. It will also allow several more enabling projects that are critical for the potential construction of a consolidated terminal. These projects include, but are not limited to, the transitional airline gates needed during construction of a consolidated terminal, a new garage design for potential placement across from the proposed consolidated terminal, relocation of various airport service facilities and the cost of a program management team.

"We are pleased that our airline partners have committed to this significant next phase of our airport's Consolidated Terminal Program," says Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, Airport Director and CEO of STL.

A signatory airline (or carrier) at STL is one that has entered a Use and Lease Agreement with the airport. Those airlines include Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), Frontier Airlines, Deutsche Lufthansa, Southwest Airlines, Southern Air Express, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines and United Parcel Service (UPS).

A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the CTP management team is due out shortly, while an RFQ for STL's proposed consolidated terminal design will be released in fall of 2024.

Currently, STL is moving forward with projects that were ratified under a separate approval vote last year. Key projects underway are the design of the new central utility plant (CUP), the design of the West Deicing Pad and the design of the airport's new Airfield Maintenance Facility, which is well underway. STL expects to begin construction on some pieces of these projects in the middle of 2025.

Negotiations continue between STL and the signatory airlines to arrive at a new long-term lease that would authorize the final piece - terminal, parking and roadway construction.
