Young Chautauquans Headline Upcoming History Presentation

GREELEY, Colo. - Join the Greeley Historic Preservation Commission for their next history presentation in the Greeley History Museum community room, 714 8^th Street, on Thursday, July 25 at noon. Local young chautauquans will perform as a pre-event of the High Plains Chautauqua.

Portraying Game Changers in History
Martin Lahman, high school graduate and 11-time young chautauquan , will portray J. Edgar Hoover. Hoover served as the first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 1935 until his death in May 1972.

Maggie Jo Lemon, fourth grader at Chappelow Arts Magnet School, will portray Coloradan Katherine McHale Slaughterback, also known as "Rattlesnake Kate." Slaughterback earned her nickname when she and her 3-year-old son encountered a nest of rattlesnakes.

Charlotte Arndt, eighth grader at Chappelow Arts Magnet School, will portray Margaret Keane. Keane was an American artist known for unique paintings of women, children and animals with large eyes.

High Plains Chautauqua
This signature event is held annually in Greeley. Audiences from all over Colorado and beyond enjoy professional performances by nationally acclaimed Chautauqua scholars who bring history to life.
