UTV Operator Seriously Injured After Crash With Vehicle

SEABROOK, N.H. - One person was seriously hurt after a crash involving a vehicle and utility terrain vehicle (UTV) in Seabrook.

At 4:28 p.m. on Friday, June 28, Seabrook police and fire departments responded to a crash on Ocean Boulevard (Route 1A). At the request of the Seabrook Police Department, State Troopers assigned to the Troop A barracks responded to the scene and assumed the lead of the investigation.

The preliminary investigation at the scene determined a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle, driven by Georgia P. Gynan, 33, of Hampton, had been traveling south on Ocean Boulevard approaching the intersection with Hooksett Street when she failed to stop at a red light. As the Volkswagen proceeded through the intersection, the vehicle struck a 2013 Kawasaki UTV, owned by the Town of Seabrook, which was being operated by a town parking enforcement employee in an easterly direction through the intersection.

As a result of the impact, the UTV overturned, and the operator was thrown from the UTV. The operator of the UTV suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Gynan and an additional passenger were uninjured.

While Troopers investigated the scene and emergency personnel worked to remove the involved vehicles and associated debris, all travel lanes of Ocean Boulevard were closed for approximately three and a half hours. Multiple agencies assisted members of Troop A at the scene and with the ensuing investigation, including the State Police Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Unit, Seabrook Police Department, the Hampton Police Department, the Seabrook Fire Department, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and New England Truck Center.

All aspects of the crash remain under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Philip Sheehy via email at [email protected].
