Pinellas Public Library Cooperative vacancy announced

Pinellas County is accepting applications for one vacancy on the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative (PPLC) to be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. This appointment will fulfill the remainder of a current term ending Sept. 30, 2025.

The purpose of the PPLC is to extend library services to unincorporated areas of the county and of participating municipalities that do not have such services, and to improve library services to citizens of municipalities and of library tax districts that have library services. This is a volunteer position and there is no compensation.

To be eligible for this appointment, applicants must:

• Have previous experience serving on a board or similar body and the capacity to evaluate a full range of perspectives from library service providers to library users.
• Represent the interests of all parties, including the county, the PPLC, members with or without libraries, and patrons.
• Have a vision for the future of countywide library services.
• Not be an employee or member of the governing body of a library.

Meetings of the PPLC Board are generally held on the last Wednesday of the month at the PPLC office in Clearwater but may also be held at other times and at other member libraries or alternate locations.

Applications can be found at www.pinellascounty.gov/boards. Applications must be received no later than Friday, July 19, 2024, at 3 p.m. The Board of County Commissioners will review all applications and make its selection at an upcoming meeting.
