Terra State Community College is proud to announce that it has been awarded a prestigious grant from the U.S. Department of Education under Title III, Part A, Strengthening Institutions, of the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965, as amended. The grant, totaling $1,816,991, will fund the innovative project titled "Project Synergy: Unifying Data Strategy and Student Success at Terra State." The grant award period spans from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2029.

The primary goals of Project Synergy are twofold:

  1. Establishment of a Cohesive Data System: This initiative aims to create a unified, data-driven approach to improve student success, retention, and graduation rates through targeted interventions.
  2. Strengthening and Aligning Academic Support Programs: By anchoring these programs in the Guided Pathways framework, Terra State will help students explore, select, plan, and complete academic programs that align with their goals in the most efficient and affordable manner possible.

Dr. Ronald Schumacher, President of Terra State Community College, expressed his gratitude, stating, "The College is thankful for the vision of the U.S. Department of Education in making this Title III grant investment in Terra State, a rural community college, so that we can assist more students in earning their certificates and degrees, and address the growing workforce needs within the State."

Guided Pathways is an initiative designed to streamline the student journey, ensuring that students can achieve their educational and career objectives effectively. This project aligns with the State of Ohio's ambitious goal to increase educational attainment, aiming for 65 percent of Ohioans aged 25-64 to hold a degree, certificate, or other postsecondary workforce credential of value by 2025.
