Weekly APA Public Comment Periods Announcement


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency is accepting public comment on projects currently under review. The public is encouraged to go online to learn more about each public comment opportunity and to submit comments electronically.

At present, the following projects are available for comment at https://apa.ny.gov/Hearings/index.cfm:

• Draft amendments to the to the 1986 Mt Van Hoevenberg Intensive Use Area Unit Management Plan (UMP) for modernization and repair of facilities as well as construction of mountain biking trails and features at Mt Van Hoevenberg.

• Continued operation of an existing sand and gravel extraction for another five-year term, with extraction occurring from the current floor elevation of 781 ft above mean sea level (amsl) to a floor elevation of 778 feet amsl in the Town of North Hudson, Essex County (P2024-0149).

• A request to amend existing Agency permits for a mineral extraction to change the mining method from open pit above ground to room and pillar underground, allow for Saturday operating hours 7:30am-6pm for above ground activities, allow for year-round underground mining activities 24 hours/day, and allow underground blasting Monday-Friday 9am-6pm with no changes proposed to processing methods or quantity of material processed, off-site truck trips, or lateral extents of the mine in the Town of Lewis, Essex County (P2023-0256).

• A three-lot subdivision involving wetlands of tax parcel 80.-3-42, creating a 131.513-acre parcel, a 3.200-acre parcel, and a 3.650-acre parcel; each improved by existing single family dwellings with related development in the Town of Edinburg, Saratoga County (P2024-0295).

• The preparation and submission to the Governor of proposed amendments to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan for the management of State lands, pursuant to the Adirondack Park Agency Act (APA Act) and the APSLMP.

• Installation/replacement of four power poles involving wetlands, in which two power poles will be greater than 40 feet in height in the Town of Russia, Herkimer County (P2024-0294).

• Replacement of an existing 38.5-foot utility pole with a 47.5-foot utility pole supporting a three-phase regulator bank in the Town of Jay, Essex County (P2024-0223).

• Installation of a permanent 5-foot-wide tracked rail system that will extend 40 feet into White Lake to launch and retrieve a boat seasonally from a dry land boathouse, and installation of a 4-foot by 8-foot seasonal dock in the Town of Forestport, Oneida County (P2024-0264).

• A seven-lot subdivision to create vacant building lots with each to be developed by one single family dwelling and one accessory use structure in the Town of Franklin, Franklin County (P2024-0200).

• A four-lot subdivision of a 66.4-acre project site to create a 20.4-acre parcel, a 13.5-acre parcel, a 25-acre parcel, and a 7.5-acre parcel improved by existing development in the Town of Saranac, Clinton County (P2024-0307).

• Installation of a utility pole that is 63.5 feet in height in the Town of Fine, St. Lawrence County (P2024-0313).
