Guilty Plea in 2022 Murder

November 1, 2024, Peoria, IL- Today, Lamarion K. Wright, 19, pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder for shooting and killing Christoper L. Tillman, 46, two years ago in the Taft Homes. Around 9 pm in September 2022, police responded to the 600 block of NE Adams Street for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Tillman shot four times. He was shot three times in his back and once in his right arm and later died at the hospital from his injuries. During the investigation, officers obtained surveillance video that captured the shooting. In that video, Wright, who an officer and witness identified, can be seen with a gun in his hand, running after Tillman and shooting him.

Wright was 16 years old at the time of the murder, and due to his age and charge, he was automatically charged as an adult. Our office agreed to cap his prison sentence to 50 years in exchange for his guilty plea. Sentencing will be held on December 30.
