Governor General to visit the communities of Québec and Lévis

QUÉBEC, Quebec-Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Whit Fraser will visit various groups and organizations in Québec and Lévis on September 24 and 25, 2024.

This visit will give the Governor General a better understanding of the difficulties facing the communities of Lévis and Québec. During the visit, the Governor General will also meet with Her Honour the Honourable Manon Jeannotte, Lieutenant Governor of Quebec.

Celebrating excellence across Canada is an integral part of the Governor General's role. The Governor General will be highlighting the essential work of people who, as volunteers or in their professional lives, are working to improve the quality of life in their communities.

The Governor General will meet with the team from Le Tremplin. Founded on the values of solidarity, mutual aid, respect for differences and respect for dignity, this non-profit organization provides essential reception and community integration services to immigrants and their families in Lévis.

Visit to Comptoir Le Grenier - Food aid and support services
The Governor General will visit Comptoir Le Grenier, where she will tour the grocery store and learn more about the services offered to improve the quality of life for those experiencing food insecurity.

Visit to Le Pignon Bleu
The Governor General will visit Le Pignon Bleu to learn more about the socio-educational and nutritional services offered at La maison pour grandir. She will also meet participants from the socio-professional integration enterprise who, as part of their training, have prepared the community meal. Her Honour the Honourable Manon Jeannotte, Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, will join the Governor General during the visit.
