Penn State Altoona English professor featured on ‘Rattle’ podcast

ALTOONA, Pa. - Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, was the featured poet on the June 30 episode of "Rattlecast," a national podcast sponsored by "Rattle" magazine. In addition to the video recording, the audio version is available on most podcast apps and platforms.

During her interview with editor Timothy Green, Murphy shared work from her new book of poems, "Fluent in Blue," and from her chapbook of centos, "Fields of Ache." She and Green discussed the themes, style, and structure of her books, as well as the cento-writing process, prose poetry, the value of general education, and the teaching of creative writing.

Murphy is the author or editor of more than a dozen previous books, chapbooks, and anthologies, with two additional books forthcoming from Salmon Poetry and Wesleyan University Press. She is the Poet Laureate of Blair County and is currently serving as Penn State's inaugural Mellon Academic Leadership Fellow for the Big Ten Academic Alliance.
