¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!

We are in the middle of Hispanic Heritage Month. Running mid-September through mid-October, Hispanic Heritage Month has a lot to boast about. According to the Latino Donor Collaborative, Hispanics are projected to account for 78% of net new workers in the US between 2020 and 2030. Latino-owned businesses made up 36% of all new startups in 2023. In California, that number is even higher! These and many more interesting facts are highlighted in a downloadable infographicfound at Latino Donor Collaborative. Perhaps you can highlight this infographic within your company to celebrate and honor this month-long period.

2024 Hispanic Heritage Theme

Each year, the National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managersvotes on a theme. The winning theme for 2024's Hispanic Heritage Month is Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together. We can see from the statistics above how fitting this theme is, as the growing influence, achievements, and contributions of Hispanic Americans across all industries are shaping the landscape of America.

Why September to October?

You may be wondering why Hispanic Heritage Month runs in the middle of two different months. This is because many Latin American countries celebrate their country's Independence Day anniversaries as well as other meaningful holidays unique to the Latino community during this time period.

Latino or Hispanic?

You've seen us use both Latino and Hispanic in this article; so what is the correct term? The answer is both are correct. Other terms that individuals may identify with such as Latinx, or they may want to identify with their actual country of origin such as Chilean or Guatemalan-American are also correct.

Be Inspired

At the end of September, CEA HR staff participated in the Inland Empire Hispanic Business Owners Forum sponsored by Bank of America. The event, held at a beautiful art museum in Downtown Riverside, brought together local Hispanic business owners to network, share ideas, and learn about creative ways to advance their businesses. Collaborative efforts such as this one are becoming more common, bringing diverse perspectives that drive business growth and success while inspiring those who attend.
