Press Release: Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs Grant Awarded to City and County of Denver

$5 million in federal funding will support workforce training in critical sectors.

(DENVER) - The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) announced today that Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) has been awarded $5 million from the U.S. Department of Labor as part of the Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs grant program. In partnership with the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium (CRWC), this grant will help DEDO expand infrastructure training with a focus on adding opportunities in rural communities.

This third round of funding will be used to enhance and expand the work of the Technology Employment in Colorado Partnership (TECP), allowing DEDO to expand its efforts beyond the Metro Denver area through a partnership with CRWC. The CRWC will utilize its share of the funds to further strengthen workforce development strategies.

Over the last decade, $18.5 million in Department of Labor funding has supported TECP, which focuses on providing education, training and employment opportunities in Information Technology and Advanced Manufacturing for underserved areas and priority populations, including Veterans.

"These funds will help create equitable access to good-paying jobs while addressing critical workforce needs in both urban and rural areas," said Suzie Miller, CRWC Director. "We are committed to helping individuals gain the skills necessary to put them on career pathways leading to long-term success."

The $5 million award will allow 600 additional individuals across Colorado to access services such as tuition assistance, wage subsidies, individualized employment planning, and career coaching. To date, the program has served over 1,500 job seekers.

"Partnering with local organizations ensures we provide relevant training to meet both employer needs and worker aspirations," said Tony Anderson, Chief Workforce Development Office, Denver Economic Development & Opportunity. "This grant strengthens our ability to build a skilled workforce that supports long-term economic growth and community sustainability."
