HONOLULU, Sept. 9, 2024 - Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a transformer on Ilaniwai Street in Kakaako on Wednesday, Sept. 11, intermittently closing the westbound lane of Ilaniwai between Kamani and Cooke streets, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with traffic contraflowed. Motorists will be detoured to Kamani St. and Ward Avenue as alternate routes.
Parking barricades will mark restricted zones along both sides of Ilaniwai and motorists are advised to find alternate street parking.
Safety signs and traffic cones will mark the job site and direct motorists to the contraflow lane, while flagmen provide traffic control. Drivers should slow down when approaching and passing the crews at work and expect traffic delays in the area.
