This $24.8 million project, scheduled to be completed by December, is designed to significantly improve safety, and reduce the number and severity of collisions along this stretch of SR-32. This includes enhancing safety at the Meridian Road intersection, which has had fatal and serious injury collisions above the state average. The project will improve the ride quality of the pavement, extend the lengths of deceleration lanes, and replace or repair culverts in poor condition. Additionally, improved lighting at key intersections will improve safety, further reducing the risk of collisions. Collectively, these improvements aim to provide safer travel for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians alike.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
