Milling, Paving, Bridge Repair Planned at Night on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that milling, paving and bridge repair operations will occur at night on Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Philadelphia under a $36.8 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in both directions between the U.S. 1 and Spring Garden Street interchanges.
  

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this contract, PennDOT's contractor will mill and overlay I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) pavement from U.S. 1 to I-676; perform concrete base, shoulder and barrier repair and replacement as needed; construct minor grade adjustments for existing inlets at select locations; replace damaged signs; install new pavement markings, delineators and rumble strips; and perform bridge repairs.
