Bettendorf’s Newest Amenity Opens to the Community on Sunday, December 15

November 15, 2024 - The leaves are falling, the temperatures are dropping, and the skates are being sharpened, which means the countdown is officially on… In one month, The Landing Ice Rink opens to the community!

"We are so excited to celebrate the holiday season with our community by opening this brand-new amenity on World Ice Skating Day, which is Sunday, December 15, 2024!" said Mayor Bob Gallagher. "The Landing Ice Rink is going to be a special place where families and friends gather to make memories, enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills, and most importantly - have fun!"

The Landing Ice Rink (2255 Middle Road) is nearly 40% bigger than the City's former temporary ice rink and is part of a transformational project in the center of the City - the corner of Middle Road and 23rd Street - which also includes a state-of-the-art aquatic facility that will open in early summer 2025. "We thank our design engineering firm of RDG and their partners, our construction partner General Constructors, Inc. (GCI) for their hard work, and we're extremely grateful for all the donors who helped make this monumental project possible!"

In addition to the 11,000+ square foot ice rink, The Landing Ice Rink features several new buildings that will provide climate-controlled restrooms, concessions, and warming areas as well as outdoor gas firepits with seating to enjoy an experience unlike any in our area.
