Kelly Ayotte Releases Another Ad Lying About Her Attacks on Abortion Rights

Republican candidate for governor Kelly Ayotte continues to lie to Granite Staters about her abortion record, releasing yet another ad that leaves out key details about her long and well-documented anti-abortion track record, which includes:

  • Voting for a national abortion ban in the U.S. Senate.

  • Calling for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, saying the decision was "wrongly decided."

  • Voting four times to defund Planned Parenthood - the biggest provider of reproductive health care in the state of New Hampshire - and pledging to do the same as governor, specifically because Planned Parenthood provides abortion services.

  • Voting so consistently against reproductive freedom that she was awarded a "100% rating" from The National Right to Life Committee, an anti-choice extremist group.

  • Voting for the Blunt amendment and cosponsoring the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act, both of which would have allowed insurance companies and employers to deny employees coverage of birth control, fertility treatments like IVF, mental health care, and more.

  • Serving the Trump administration as the "sherpa" for then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Neil Gorsuch, who would be the first justice to sign on to the majority opinion in Dobbs, directly helping to "shepherd" in the extreme anti-choice majority that overturned Roe v. Wade.

This is Ayotte's third ad responding to fact-based scrutiny of her record of restricting abortion rights, further proof that she knows that her extreme position puts her at odds with the majority of New Hampshire voters across party lines. Ayotte's first two ads called Granite Staters' concerns about her record of attacking reproductive freedom "BS political attacks" and told them to "take a hike," and papered over her long and well-documented record of voting to strip women of their reproductive rights. The Cut and NBC News have both previously reported about her craven attempt to rewrite her anti-abortion record.

"It is disqualifying that Kelly Ayotte is straight up lying to Granite Staters about where she stands - and has always stood - when it comes to restricting abortion access," said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O'Brien. "Time and again, Ayotte has proven she will do and say anything - including going back on her own word - to get more votes. Granite Staters know they can't trust her with their fundamental freedoms, and aren't falling for her election-year lies."
