Stormwater sewer extension 'booked' in to serve new library in Fivemiletown

08 July 2024 9:36

NI Water's appointed contractor, Killadeas-based Deane Public Works Ltd, is due to commence the laying of a new stormwater sewer at the end of July in Fivemiletown to serve the new library development on Main Street.

The work - which will involve the installation of a new pipeline and the construction of associated manholes - will extend from No.14 Tudor Park onto Edfield Way, where it will continue towards the rear of the library development on 67 Main Street. Following this essential pipelaying work, full width road reinstatement will be carried out on Edfield Way.

Pipelaying work is scheduled to get underway on Tudor Park during the week commencing Monday 29th July 2024 and will take approximately two weeks to complete overall. To carry out the work as safely as possible, localised traffic management will be in place as follows:

  • Tudor Park (Monday 29th July 2024 to Friday 2nd August 2024): A road closure will be in place between No.13 Tudor Park and the junction with Edfield Way from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily. This is required to facilitate a connection to the existing storm sewer. Local access for residents and businesses in Tudor Park will be maintained.
  • Edfield Way (Monday 29th July 2024 to Friday 9th August 2024): A lane closure will be in place on Edfield Way from its junction with Clabby Road to its junction with Edfield Park. Restricted working hours will be in place from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Monday to Thursday and from 9.30am to 3.00pm on Friday 2nd August 2024 and Friday 9th August 2024. Access to business and residential properties along Edfield Way, Tudor Park and Edfield Park will be facilitated at all times, however street parking will be restricted at times on Edfield Way opposite Tudor Park towards the entrance to Lesley's Beautique during this time.

Full width road reinstatement will be carried out on Edfield Way following the pipelaying work. Further notice on the date and time for the permanent reinstatement works will be issued to businesses and residents and signage will be erected once the road permit has been approved.

During pipelaying work we would kindly ask motorists to park vehicles outside of any working area. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

We would take this opportunity to highlight that construction sites are dangerous areas for unauthorised persons, especially children, and we would appreciate your co-operation in ensuring that children do not play in or around the site or machinery. Working areas will have warning signs in place to protect the public from any hazards. The public are advised to stay out of these working areas for their own safety.

NI Water and Deane Public Works will do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work in the shortest possible timeframe. We greatly appreciate the patience and cooperation of the local community and travelling public while we carry out this essential work to facilitate this new development in Fivemiletown.
