Recruitment for 2025 Summer Youth Job Training Program begins
Lexington, Ky. (Oct. 4, 2024) - Partners for Youth has opened registration for the 2025 Summer Youth Job Training Program (SYJTP) for youth workers. SYJTP provides workforce training opportunities for 300 Lexington students in the 10th, 11th and 12th-grades for the 2025-2026 school year by teaming with Lexington's business and community-based partners.
Open enrollment is an opportunity for youth interested in SYJTP to complete the enrollment process. Youth that have participated in previous years must sign up again. The Summer Youth Job Training Program includes the following:
- Skills session (January 2025)
- Career Fair (March 2025)
- Verification Clinic (April 2025)
- Parent Orientation (TBA)
- Youth Worker Orientation (May 2025)
- SYJTP Work Dates (June 9 - July 18, 2025)
Open enrollment has also begun for local businesses to request to be worksites for youth workers placed at their businesses for up to 20 hours a week for six weeks of the summer. Participating employers do not incur direct wage costs as part of the Summer Youth Job Training Program. All the youth workers' wages are paid directly by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. However, each worksite's investment in training, supervision and mentorship of youth workers is an invaluable component of the public-private partnership.
