Corpus Christi to Commemorate 23rd Anniversary of September 11 Attacks with Memorial Events

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The City of Corpus Christi will pay tribute to the lives lost on September 11, 2001, through a series of memorial events organized by various public safety entities. These events, which are open to the public, offer a solemn opportunity to remember and honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on that tragic day.
23rd Anniversary September 11th Memorial Walk
Join the Corpus Christi community in a 5.65-mile walk to honor and remember the first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

  • Art Museum of South Texas Parking Lot in front of American Bank Center, 1902 North Shoreline Boulevard
  • Schedule:
    • Check-in: 7:00 a.m. - 7:46 a.m.
    • Memorial Begins: 7:46 a.m. (corresponding with the time the first plane hit the North Tower at 8:46 a.m. EST)
    • Walk Begins: 8:03 a.m. (corresponding with the time the second plane hit the South Tower at 9:03 a.m. EST)

Fifth Annual 9/11 Memorial Workout
This workout event, dedicated to first responders, military personnel, and JROTC members, includes a stair climb and moments of silence to honor those who perished.

  • Whataburger Field, 734 East Port Avenue
  • Schedule:
    • Gates Open: 7:30 a.m.
    • Presentation of Colors and National Anthem: 8:00 a.m.
    • Stair Climb: Immediately following the National Anthem
    • Moments of Silence: 8:59 a.m. and 9:28 a.m.
    • Public Workout Access: 10:00 a.m.

9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Please join the Corpus Christi Fire Department, Corpus Christi Police Department, and the Port of Corpus Christi Police Department as they commemorate the fallen heroes of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
