NYFB Applauds Passage of Direct-to-Consumer Bill

ALBANY, NY - New York Farm Bureau (NYFB) applauds Gov. Kathy Hochul's signing of the Direct-to-Consumer Shipping bill (S2852A / A3132A) today, which authorizes the direct intrastate and interstate shipment of spirits, cider and mead. NYFB had strongly supported the bill, which provides parity to New York's small craft manufacturers.

"We are excited for our farm distillers and farm cideries, who will now be able to expand their market by shipping their products directly to consumers. This is a lifeline for many struggling distilleries and cideries throughout the state. This will help strengthen the fruit, grain and potato industry in New York and is a huge win for agriculture," said David Fisher, president of New York Farm Bureau.

Kim Wagner, owner and founder of Stoutridge Distillery and Winery in Marlboro, New York, said, "Being able to ship our craft spirits directly to consumers who have visited us or have heard about us allows us a financial boon that did not previously exist. The Direct-to-Consumer shipping bill helps us remain competitive in the New York State craft beverage space and strengthens our relationship to the customers who support our business."
