FEMA Can Provide Eligible Individuals and Households with:

FEMA Also Assists Local Governments & Private Non-Profits

After a disaster, communities may need help covering the costs associated with life-saving emergency protective measures, debris removal or restoring public infrastructure. FEMA's Public Assistance Program provides supplemental grants to state, tribal, territorial, and local governments and certain types of private non-profits so communities can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies.

FEMA Does NOT:

  • Block or prevent debris removal.
  • Confiscate or seize property. Any information collected at your property inspection is used to determine the type and amount of assistance you may be eligible for.
  • Replace insurance. If you have insurance, contact your provider first.
  • Make you whole after a disaster. Assistance is designed to help you get started with your recovery.
