Fatal collision involving a dump truck

On August 28, 2024, at 1:15 P.M., Troopers out of SP Lockport responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Beattie Avenue and Hamm Road in the town of Lockport. Investigation determined that a 2024 Honda Civic failed to yield the right of way while making a left-hand turn onto Beattie Avenue from Hamm Road and was struck by a 2016 Kenworth dump truck was traveling south bound on Beattie Avenue. The Kenworth subsequently struck the driver side of the Honda. The operator of the dump truck was not injured. The operator of the Honda, Laurie J. Wright, 70 of Lockport, NY was pronounced deceased on scene.

The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this investigation.
