Investigation into Fatal Crash at 13000 South Freeway

November 18, 2024- Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13000 South Freeway (South State Highway 288) about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 16).

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer C. Ballard reported:

The male was driving a red Chevrolet Corvette southbound at the above address and struck an 18-wheeler Freightliner truck, also traveling southbound. The Chevrolet went underneath the Freightliner and struck a retaining wall on the freeway. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Chevrolet deceased at the scene.

It's believed the Chevrolet was driving at a high rate of speed.

Paramedics transported the female driver of the Freightliner to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
