If you own a home in the county of Los Angeles, there is free, easy and convenient way to monitor recorded activities on your property(ies).
Created and administered by the Los Angeles County Assessor's Office, the Homeowner Alert Service aims to protect homeowners from potential real estate fraud by notifying them by email within 48 hours of a foreclosure, title transfer, lien or other official document being filed against their property.
Early notification allows homeowners to identify, and take immediate action on, forged or fraudulent filings they did not initiate.
Enrolling in the Homeowner Alert Service only takes two steps:
Once subscribed, you will start receiving emails whenever a document is recorded with your linked AIN.
There is no limit on the number of properties you can enroll for this service, and the properties can include those of an elderly parent or dependent adult that require your assistance to keep an eye on documents related to their properties.
If you suspect erroneous or fraudulent activity, you report it and get assistance from the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs at 800-593-8222, dcba.lacounty.gov, or [email protected].
