PennDOT Announces New Start Date for Potter Bridge Preservation

PennDOT Announces New Start Date for Potter Bridge Preservation

08/23/2024

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a new start date of Monday, August 26, for a bridge preservation project in Roulette Township in Potter County. The bridge spans the Allegheny River along Route 4003 (Pomeroy Street), and the project will improve ride quality across the structure and improve its overall condition rating from poor to good.

The contractor will close Pomeroy Street and implement a detour using Burleson Avenue, Maple Street, River Street, and Main Street. The detour is just under two miles.

The structure, originally built in 1983, is 114 feet long and carries an average of 1,010 vehicles daily. PennDOT anticipates completion in mid-October, but all work is weather-dependent.

John Nastase Construction, Inc. is the contractor for this $2 million project. Work on this bridge was announced for mid-July but was delayed due to procurement issues. This structure is one of three that will see improvements as part of this contract. Work on the other two will take place in the 2025 construction season.
