Deputy Secretary Verma Travels to Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, and Austria

Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma will travel to Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, and Austria September 5-9. In Ukraine, Deputy Secretary Verma will reaffirm U.S. commitment to support Ukraine's economic resilience recovery agenda and self-defense against Russia's ongoing invasion. Senior representatives from U.S. private sector companies will accompany the Deputy Secretary in Ukraine.

In Poland, the Deputy Secretary will engage with Polish government officials and private sector leaders in support of Ukraine's economic recovery. Deputy Secretary Verma will also focus on advancing our strategic partnership and shared goals such as strengthening NATO's eastern flank during his visit to Slovakia. In Austria, he will meet with representatives from fellow Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe participating States to discuss issues related to Ukraine's recovery. The Deputy Secretary will also meet with International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi to discuss the Agency's activities in Ukraine.

Deputy Secretary Verma also visited Lithuania September 4-5 where he signed the Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Rights, Democracy, and of the Rule of Law under the Council of Europe.
