Rosen-Backed Bipartisan Bill to Equip Female Law Enforcement Officers with Improved Body Armor Passes Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that the Senate has passed bipartisan legislation she helped pass out of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to provide next-generation body armor to federal female law enforcement personnel. The bill will require the Department of Homeland Security to provide appropriately fitting body armor that is tailored to meet the coverage, fit, and functionality needs of female and male officers left vulnerable by the fit of body armor typically used. It now moves to the House of Representatives for consideration.

"Our law enforcement officers put themselves in danger to keep us safe, and they deserve the best equipment to help protect them," said Senator Rosen. "I'm proud the Senate has passed this bill to ensure federal law enforcement have appropriate body armor that will help protect them regardless of gender or body type."

Senator Rosen has been working to support Nevada's law enforcement community and ensure it has the resources needed to fight crime effectively and safely. Earlier this year, she announced over $300,000 in federal funding for Nevada to help law enforcement fight drug trafficking. Senator Rosen also announced nearly one million dollars in federal funding for Nevada law enforcement to hire more officers, purchase essential equipment, and invest in officer mental health. A bipartisan bill she backed to fund family support and mental health services for law enforcement officers recently passed the Senate.
