Discover What's New with Oracle Linux Automation Manager 2.2

The Oracle Linux and Virtualization team is pleased to announce the general availability of Oracle Linux Automation Manager 2.2. Oracle Linux Automation Manager is a tool for deploying software, configuring systems, and orchestrating tasks in the form of playbooks.

The management of large-scale IT infrastructure often involves manual processes that are difficult to scale and prone to mistakes, that can lead to inconsistent configurations, security issues, or a strain on IT resources. Oracle Linux Automation Manager solves these challenges by automating repetitive tasks, helping to ensure uniform system configurations, and reducing the chances of human error. This results in better scalability, system stability, and more time for IT teams to work on strategic initiatives.

Key features of Oracle Linux Automation Manager include:

Centralized automation management: Web-based user interface to manage automation tasks, credentials, and inventories.
Role-based access control: Granular control over access to automation tasks.
High availability and scalability: Scalable architecture for large deployments using the control nodes, execution nodes, and Receptor. The control node provides the user interface, role-based access control, and content management while the execution node runs the playbooks and tasks on managed nodes. The Receptor provides a multi-service network that links control plane and execution plane nodes.
Private Automation Hub: Centralized, private repository for storing and sharing automation content within the organization.
Builder utility: Simplifies building of automation execution environments (containers) with required dependencies and Ansible collections.
What's new
Oracle Linux Automation Manager is based on the Ansible AWX open source project. The main focus of Oracle Linux Automation Manager 2.2 is the AWX stack update, which is now based on AWX 23.7 and includes critical bug fixes. The previous version, Oracle Linux Automation Manager 2.1, was based on AWX 19.5.1.

In addition to updating the AWX stack, a topology view feature has been added to the user interface. The topology viewer provides a graphical representation of different types of nodes (execution, control, hybrid, and hop), node health, and how they are connected using the Service Mesh.
