Chinese naval hospital ship Peace Ark enters Indian Ocean

BEIJING, June 28 -- The Chinese naval hospital ship "Peace Ark", which set sail from a military port in Zhoushan City, east China's Zhejiang Province, on June 16 for Mission Harmony-2024, crossed the Sunda Strait and entered the Indian Ocean on June 26.

The Sunda Strait, about 120 kilometers long, is located between the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Java. It is an important channel connecting the Pacific Ocean, the Java Sea and the Indian Ocean. It is also one of the routes for North Pacific countries to head for East Africa, West Africa, or Europe through the Cape of Good Hope.

Since its departure, the Chinese naval hospital ship "Peace Ark" has crossed the Taiwan Strait and sailed through the South China Sea. During the voyage, it has conducted various training exercises according to different weather conditions, including emergency medical training for the backbone staff of the hospital, navigation situation handling, and helicopter flight checks.

In the coming days, the naval hospital ship "Peace Ark" will organize training exercises including maritime medical rescue and evacuation, damage control zone management, and full-process operations of the maritime hospital. These exercises aim to continuously enhance the sailors' capabilities and lay a solid foundation for better fulfillment of missions and tasks.
