CITY OF ALEXANDRIA TO HOLD GEORGE WASHINGTON BIRTHDAY PARADE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15

Alexandria, Va. - Alexandria's 2025 George Washington Birthday Parade will be at a new time: Saturday, February 15, from 2 to 4 p.m.

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War, the City of Alexandria is pleased to announce the 2025 parade's theme: "George Washington: America's Commander in Chief." View the parade route through Old Town Alexandria.

"The George Washington Birthday Parade is always a great time, and I'm particularly excited for this one," said Mayor Justin Wilson. "It will be my first chance to experience it as a resident rather than a Member of Council in a long time, and I'm lucky that it's a milestone celebration, so it should really be something special."

Parade registration will open November 22, and participants can register a unitat an early bird rate of $75 through January 15. The parade relies on community support, with sponsorships and donationshelping keep this tradition going each year.

Since 1801, Alexandria has commemorated Washington's legacy with a parade. This year, more than 1,000 participants are expected to march and perform along the historic route in Old Town Alexandria. The parade will showcase drum corps, color guards, bands, community and fraternal organizations, youth groups, local merchants, city dignitaries, and, of course, General George and Martha Washington.

The City is proud to continue this longstanding tradition as the oldest and largest George Washington Birthday Parade in the country. The full schedule of February events honoring Washington's birthday in his adopted hometown will be shared later this year.
