HONOLULU - On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., members of Hawai'i Bicycling League (HBL) will remove litter from both sides of the protected bike lane along Ward Avenue, between South King Street and Ala Moana Boulevard. Work for this project is being done under the coordination of the City's Mālama O Ka 'Āina community volunteer program, which is administered by the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Facility Maintenance, Division of Road Maintenance (DRM).

HBL aims to highlight the importance of bicycle safety and the positive impact riding a bicycle has on our community and the environment. For more information on HBL and other events it organizes, please visit https://hbl.org/.

Valuable support for this project will also be provided by Patagonia Honolulu, located on Ward Avenue. The City is grateful to the members of HBL and the staff at Patagonia Honolulu for volunteering their time and resources, as regular maintenance of the protected bike lane is essential to providing a safe and pleasant riding experience for all its users.

To find out more about volunteer opportunities, please call DRM at (808) 768-3606.
