NEXTGEN TV Builds Global Momentum

ATSC 3.0, the new broadcast standard that powers NEXTGEN TV, is building momentum not only in the United States but around the world. This week, Brazil's SBTVD Forum recommended adopting the physical layer of ATSC 3.0 for the country's new TV 3.0 Project.

This is an important early step toward implementing the new standard, providing global support for ATSC 3.0 and encouraging television manufacturers to continue creating new NEXTGEN TV-capable sets and devices.

Already in commercial use in the United States, South Korea and Jamaica, this next generation of broadcast television technology can deliver lifesaving advanced emergency alerting, stunning pictures, immersive and customizable audio and improved reception to enhance viewers' experience. And just like local television channels, NEXTGEN TV is available for free over-the-air.

Broadcasters are delivering NEXTGEN TV signals to more than 75% of the U.S., with new deployments constantly underway. Millions of viewers are already getting enhanced television experiences, including during the upcoming Olympics. This technology is also crucial to the Broadcast Positioning System, a complementary system to GPS in development by the NAB Technology team.
