On July 26, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded for the report of a commercial break-in (after hours) at a retail store in the 1000 block of Ellice Avenue by a group of youths.

The suspects smashed the front window to gain access, then damaged the inside of the store and stole merchandise before fleeing.

Approximately 30 minutes later, police received another report of a group of teens who set fire inside a gazebo at the rear of a property in the 1000 block of Sargent Avenue.

General Patrol Officers from the West District, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, located the youths in the 500 block of Spence Street and took them into custody.

Five youth males, aged 9-14, are facing charges related to Commercial Break & Enter and Arson.

They were released on an Undertaking per the Criminal Code and turned over to an adult.
