NEW INFORMATION
As of 2:00 PM, Hurricane Milton transitioned into a "hurricane-force extratropical low" as it moved off Florida's coast and into the western Atlantic. Gradual weakening is expected over the next few days, though tropical storm conditions and storm surges continue to affect portions of the southeast U.S. coast. Winds in our area will gradually diminish tonight. No major damage has been reported in the City of Fort Pierce, though downed trees, debris, and localized flooding may still pose hazards.
Residents are urged to stay off the roads unless necessary to prevent interference with emergency response and cleanup efforts. Crews are actively working to clear roadways and restore essential services. We ask residents to exercise caution and patience as recovery continues. Additionally, remember to treat intersections with non-functioning traffic signals as four-way stops.
