MARIETTA, GA - Eerie meets elegance just in time for Halloween as Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre's Dracula returns to the stage. First premiered in 2017, GMDT's Dracula is a chilling original ballet based on the classic novel by Bram Stoker, set to the hauntingly beautiful score of Philip Feeney.

Tickets are now on sale for all three performances at the KSU Dance Theater at Kennesaw State University's Marietta Campus, October 18-20, 2024.

Dates: Friday, October 18 at 7:30PM; Saturday, October 19 at 7:30PM; and Sunday, October 20 at 2:00PM
Location: The KSU Dance Theatre (Marietta Campus)
Tickets: Tickets start at $32.50 and are available through georgiametrodance.org

Dracula will transport audiences to the land of Transylvania where dance and myth mix together in the legendary tale of Count Dracula and his three brides, the misfortunes of Jonathan Harker and fiancée Mina Murray, and the ultimate struggle between good and evil. GMDT's production of Dracula will feature professional dancers performing alongside their highest-level company dancers.

"Dracula is a favorite for audiences and dancers alike," said Ashleigh Whitworth, artistic director for GMDT. "For the dancers, they get to step into characters that are dark, twisted, and multi-layered. For the audience, they get to experience ballet through a spooky lens, much different than the sparkling magic of a more typical classical ballet like The Nutcracker. The amazing score by Philip Feeney grabs your heart and takes you on a journey all its own, and as a choreographer it is a dream to create movement to his music. GMDT's Dracula is truly the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit!"

GMDT is comprised of 134 students ranging in age from seven years-old to graduating high school seniors who train at Georgia Dance Conservatory (GDC) on the Marietta Square. The GMDT 2024/25 season will also include The Nutcracker, traditionally presented the weekend after Thanksgiving, this year on November 29-December 1. Next spring, GMDT's Don Quixote will grace the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre's stage March 22-23, 2025. More information about these productions is available at georgiametrodance.org.
