The fifteenth session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption has been meeting in Vienna since 4 November.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiysent a video greeting to the participants of the meeting.

He noted that the Commonwealth countries had acceded to the UN Convention against Corruption, and this was a convincing evidence of the desire to counter this dangerous phenomenon.

The parliaments of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Member Nations made considerable legislative efforts to promote a public sentiment that corruption is unacceptable. In 1999, the Assembly adopted a Model Law on Countering Corruption.

The Assembly prepared normative legal acts in this area in accordance with requests from parliamentary delegations of the CIS countries. The developed Model Laws were reflected in the national legislation of the Commonwealth countries, the head of the Secretariat said.

The meeting will last until 8 November. Following its results, the finalized document on countering corruption will be adopted.
