New Leaf Collection GPS Tracker

The City of Westerville provides leaf pick up service to the community in order to help remove the fallen leaves and reduce the amount of debris entering our storm sewers.

In order to help the City be environmentally sensitive, please place your leaves in the tree lawn area and not in the street storm gutters. Leaves left in the storm gutter not only pollute our local streams, but often end up clogging the catch basins, resulting in water ponding on the roads and unsafe driving conditions. The wet and slippery leaves in the roadway themselves can also be a safety hazard for your vehicles and bicycles.

Vehicles should be parked at least three feet (3 ft) from any piles. This will help provide the space needed for the leaf crews to get to the leaves.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The 2024 Leaf Collection Program begins October 7, 2024 and runs through December 27, 2024. The City has been divided into three zones as follows:

Zone 1 - Sunbury Rd to Spring Rd (east side)

Zone 2 - Spring Rd (west side) to Otterbein Ave (east side)

Residents are requested to have leaves at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on their respective Set Out Dates for collection during that week. Please feel free to contact the Service Department with any questions, concerns or comments at 614.901.6740 or [email protected], Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

BEST PRACTICES
During the leaf collection program, we ask that you have all of your leaves raked to the tree lawn (in between the sidewalk and the street), but not in the street. So that we can efficiently and economically remove these leaves, we ask that these leaves be free of large sticks, twigs and any trash or debris that could cause damage to our leaf collection equipment and injuries to our personnel. Also, to prevent non-collection, we ask that vehicles not be parked in front of, or close to, leaves during the above collection weeks. Any obstructions, such as basketball hoops, should be removed from the right-of-way as these present a safety issue and can hinder collection.

All yard waste will continue to be collected each Monday as part of our Yard Waste Collection program, should you not want to wait until your appointed week to dispose of your leaves. Leaves may also be gathered in yard waste bags and placed at the curb for regular yard waste collection each Monday with your normal yard waste pickup.

With your assistance, we will be able to provide an effective and high-quality leaf collection program. Should you have any questions or comments relative to this service, please contact the Public Service Department.
