Debby Elevated to Category 1 Hurricane

​The National Hurricane Centerhas upgraded Debby to a Category 1 hurricane.

Hurricane Debby is continuing to move toward the northeastern Gulf coast at 12 mph.

Alachua County is currently averaging wind gusts between 10-20 mph. Archer is experiencing the most rainfall so far, collecting 4 inches as of 11 p.m., while other parts of Alachua Countyare seeing 0-2 inches.

Alachua County has issued an evacuation orderfor those residing in mobile homes, manufactured homes, recreational vehicles, and homes, which may not survive the storm along with those living in areas subject to flooding or those in proximity to bodies of water. This order shall take effect immediately and remain in effect until lifted.

Your local utilities should inform you if you are under a boil water notice and when water is safe to drink.
