In New Video, Mark Robinson Expands His Attacks on Reproductive Freedom to Include Access to Birth Control

Robinson rails against "all this giving out of birth control"

As Mark Robinson has repeatedly made clear he wants to completely ban abortion in all cases, a new HuffPost report reveals a video where he "scoffs at the idea that young women should have access to birth control."

In the video, Robinson once again opens the door to restricting access to birth control, complaining about "all this giving out of birth control" and waving his hand "near his groin, say[ing] [women] just need to 'get this under control.'"

Robinson has a long history of demonizing women for making their own health care decisions. In 2019 he posted a video to his Facebook page, ranting that "abortion in this country is not about protecting the lives of mothers. It is about killing the child because [women] weren't responsible enough to keep [their] skirt down."This is also not the first time that Robinson has come out against safe, legal, and widely used forms of contraception. He was recently caught attacking access to birth control, claiming it's "being forced on very young ladies" and makes women more "promiscuous," and earlier this year headlined an event for an extreme anti-abortion organization that believes the "FDA's approval of a birth control drug is 'evil.'"

Notably, Robinson's campaign refused to answer when asked by HuffPost "whether the GOP gubernatorial nominee supports young women having access to birth control, or about why he thought it was appropriate to wave his hand by his crotch and say women need to control themselves."

"Mark Robinson continues to attack and insult women as he pushes to completely ban abortion and threatens access to birth control," said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. "Robinson's latest attacks on birth control are disgusting, disqualifying, and fit into a long pattern of dangerous plans - and he must explain to North Carolinians why he is leaving the door open to ripping away their access to birth control."
