NYS agencies answer questions from small-business owners

The New York State Department of Labor and Empire State Development 2024 Interagency Small Business Tour made a stop at SUNY Old Westbury on July 22, 2024. More than 80 owners of small businesses were on hand to get advice and information from an array of agencies across the state.

Long Island Association President Matthew Cohen discusses the importance of small businesses to the Long Island economy during the interagency tour.

The tour, which has been taking place across the state during the month of July, is designed to provide important information to small business owners on licensing, regulations, taxes, grants, training, and more. The event at SUNY Old Westbury was held in partnership with the Long Island Association, the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce.

State Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon participated in the event, noting that her department "offers a trove of no-cost resources that can help businesses of all sizes compete on the global stage."

LIA President Matthew Cohen and Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President Luis Vasquez also participated in the program.

Besides Empire State Development and the labor department, the other agencies on hand were the departments of state, financial services, taxation and finance, agriculture and markets, workers' compensation board and insurance fund.
