Seal coat project on Route 32 to begin next week…

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo- Preventative maintenance on50 miles ofMissouri Route 32 across multiplecounties is set to get underwaythe week of Aug.12.

Construction crews plan to begin applying a sealcoat on Route 32 at Dallas County Route P and progresseastto Harrison Avenue inLebanon,then will start at Missouri Route 17 in Texas County progressing west to the southern junction with Route 5inLebanon.During daylight hours, Monday through Friday, traffic will be reduced to one lane in segments up to 2 miles long. Flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $1,557,100contract to Blevins Asphalt Construction Company Inc. for this work, which is expected to continue through the end of August. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

Seal coating is a preventative maintenance treatment which rejuvenates the road surface and helps extend the life of the roadway by filling and sealing cracks in the existing asphalt with an emulsified asphalt/aggregate seal. MoDOT does its best to be good stewards of the monies entrusted to us by taxpayers. One of the ways is to employ preventative maintenance methods, such as this.

MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are advised to useextra caution through work zones, obey all traffic signs, and avoid any distractions.
